An acrobat in a traveling circus learns her greatest enemy lives in the mirror. An Irish immigrant may have brought malevolent faeries with her to the New World. A lumberjack in the Pacific Northwest suspects a monster lurks behind the enormous trees. A Colorado gold miner find himself trapped in the bowels of the earth, no matter how many times he tries to dig his way out. A psychiatrist in Chicago suffers from insomnia and loses track of where reality end and his nightmares begin.

Written in the literary tradition of gothic horror, The Witch: And Other Tales of the American Gothic is a collection of strange occurrences in 19th century America. These seven stories provide a reflection of the country's growing pains during a time of transition and exploration of the secrets that lurk in the shadows of the world we think we know.

The Witches of Westbrook - Dramedy, 1 hour

Lifelong friends and practicing witches Stella and Jasmine find themselves at a pivotal moment: Jasmine becomes a widow and Stella, the mother of teenage twins, goes through a divorce. With nothing to lose, the pair move to the magickal town of Westbrook to reconnect with their own power. But fitting into a town full of witches with a strict dogma and an aversion to outsiders is going to be much harder than they expect.

The Book of Jane - Comedy, 1/2 hour

(Second Round, Austin Film Festival 2024)


New to a city she despises, playwright-turned- PR consultant Jane begins carrying a notebook to organize the constant stream of thoughts about her disappointing job, her over-achieving family members, her hot therapist, her former best friend, and her impending divorce. Since she moved to support her ex-husband’s career, Jane doesn’t have to stay in the nexus of absurdity and contradictions that is Los Angeles, but those contradictions might be just what she needs to discover who she truly is.

As the country prepares to enter World War 1, a medical student with a unique gift for healing returns to his parents’ Mennonite farm when his sister murders a man she refers to as “one of them,” leading him to grapple with the truth about family, faith, and limits of pacifism in a holy war between good and evil.

A former fire goddess turned private investigator for supernatural crimes investigates a wave of killings linked to soul-draining demons, only to realize the war she abandoned centuries ago is about to reignite. The demons aren’t just killing—they’re preparing to rule.

Bottom of the Lake - Horror Feature

(Semi-Finalist, Hayes Horror Fellowship, 2024)


Sarah sees ghosts – lots of them. Most want her to deliver messages, but the weight of their demands has made her a shell of herself and sent her down a road of depression, alcoholism, divorce, and guilt. When a failed suicide attempt traps her in a state of purgatory, Sarah’s sense of linear time is broken, and she sees the ghosts of others before they’ve died, leading to confusion and panic as she struggles to tell the living apart from the dead. Sarah must return to the nexus of good and evil to keep the man she loves from crossing over too soon – and to find out what these beings really want from her.

Together, Lucy and Gabriel test the limits of ambition and an uphill pursuit of the American Dream against a backdrop of jazz, race riots, Voo Doo, religious reformers, corruption, the Mafia, and a string of unsolved ax murders.

Jessica Hobbs is a writer with a BA in Film Studies from the University of Colorado, Boulder, a background in theater, opera, Vaudeville, television production, and film festivals, and a passion for all things strange and unusual. If she’s not writing, she’s likely on a movie set, traveling around the world, practicing witchcraft, or blasting rock and roll records in her living room. She is currently pursuing her MA in Magic & Occult Science at the University of Exeter.
